Anon: That's really strange. Deschutes has a great process to attain consistency. Though I don't know your particular situation, I'd be more inclined to blame the seller and their storage practices rather than the brewery. Now that you're in Portland, make sure that you get it form the source and check out a couple of their other beers while you're there...

I used to drink Mirror Pond religiously when I lived in NM. Since moving to Portland 2 months ago, I've been nothing but dissappointed with this beer. Don't know if it's just a bad batch or something else, but it makes me sad either way.

When I tasted my first Black Butte Porter many years ago, I knew that Deschute was special. I've always used Black Butte as my "standard" to measure-against, when brewing my own porters.
Their line-up just seems to stay interesting and current. I love Deschute!

As long as Gary is at the helm I'm confident they'll never forget their roots or sacrifice quality for profit.

I do sure miss Quail Springs IPA, though. It's actually one of the beers that helped bring me into the world of craft beers back when I was a yougin'.

Maybe they can bring it back as a seasonal (originally it was a season release, before it became the year-round IPA and was replaced by Inversion) or something in the future.
