CRB's brewery has a rich history dating back to the Old World Pub & Brewery, which is where Hopworks Owner/Brewer Christian Ettinger cut his teeth.
Laurelwood Brewing Company, NE 40th Avenue

It is hard to believe, but it has been two years since Columbia River Brewing launched in the space most recently occupied by Laurelwood at 1728 NE 40th Avenue in the Hollywood District. To celebrate, CRB is throwing an anniversary party this Saturday July 14th. Although Happy Hour specials will be available all day (CRB opens at 11 AM), the party does not really get started until 4 PM with the BBQ pig roast. Your plate will be completed in true picnic style with baked beans and potato salad, all for only $10.95. Roast pork will only be available until the carcass is picked clean so plan on arriving early.

On the beer front, the regular house beers will be flowing (e.g., CRB Pale Ale, ESB, Hop Heaven IPA and Rose City Wheat) with one being featured on cask. Their  Stumblers Stout, awarded the Silver at the 2012 World Beer Cup in the Oatmeal Stout category, will be available on nitro which should enhance the oatmeal smoothness. They will also be releasing their Belgian Tripel, Bohemian Pilsner and Rye IPA, so there should be a little something for everyone.

Lastly, CRB will be conducting raffles throughout the day for brewery schwag with the top prize being a one year membership to their Mug Club. I first found out about this event through a flyer mailed to the 'Resident' of my home, so this party may turn into a little neighborhood block party. However, I expect the combination of sunny weather, roasting pig and cold beer will be an attractant for more than just the locals. Hope to see you there!
